Sometimes it's not easy to be an exchange student, specially from a country like Pakistan. At first getting selected is quite tough and competitive and after we are selected it's quite hard to answer people around us. But every journey has some barriers, that doesn't means that we should quit. They are there so we can learn defeating them.
I gathered up all of little but huge changes in me that I feel like they have changed in my exchange year here in America. Give it a read and enjoy!
Undefinable journey

People ask me why I am here, they even say it's just a wastage of one academic year(as my academic performance here at school will not be counted back home). They think being in America is just a name of partying and having fun!
So they better give this a read:
Although it's my 5th month here but I am surprised the way I have changed. It wasn't only a journey from from Pakistan to America! I call it a journey from a lil brat to a responsible person. A journey from an irresponsible teen to the one who understands her responsibility well. A journey from a girl who never kept her mouth shut until someone yelled at her, telling her to stop, to a girl who now knows how to speak and when to speak. A journey from the one who wanted everything she liked to a girl who knows what to get and what to not. A journey from the one who never cared about the prices of the items she wanted to buy to a girl who can now manages her monthly budget very well. A journey from the one who never got out of bed unless her mother yelled at her to the one who gets up at 6 in the morning on a single alarm. A journey from a girl who's room was nothing but a mess to the girl who manages her room well. A journey from a girl who always wanted "hot breakfast" to be waiting for her in the morning to the girl who now feels a pleasure to prepare her breakfast by her own. A journey the one who called herself a horrible cook to someone who cooks well know(yes! it tastes so good). A journey from the girl who never thought of living away from her cellphone to the girl who DONOT uses it anymore(over usage isn't a good idea believe me). A journey from the girl who always hated to be home to the one who now knows how good is it to be home. A journey from "A" girl to "the" girl. A journey from "I cannot" to "yes, I can". A journey from my dreams to the reality. A journey from carelessness to carefulness. A journey from "who cares" to "I should care". A journey from "irresponsibility" to "responsibility". A journey from "immaturity" to "maturity". A journey from the one who always wished to be out of her country to the one who now says "I LOVE MY COUNTRY"
Last but not the least, a journey from the one who hated writing to the one who is writing ^ this all.
Yes mama! I have changed! I am surprised by my self :)
Oh my word! I never realized I was a "BRATTY" girl :)
But no more Mama!
Now for those who questioned and even criticized me on the reason for being here! I question you. Do you think going to school is all about graduating with a degree full of straight A's? Thank you so much, I don't want a degree if this is true. I want to be a good human being first and then a good student. This year ( only in 5 months) taught me all of these little things which I never learned during my whole school life ( 12 years). And I was going to be the same if I didn't came here!
For all those who think being here is just luck and not a big deal at all then I invite them to give a try and to see how easy or how HARD it is to be here.
